Piano Lessons in SW London
I offer piano lessons tailored to your goals, for children and adults of all levels, for Wandsworth, Fulham, Wimbledon, Putney and other SW London learners.
My method
People come to piano lessons with different goals, and I believe effective teaching starts with understanding each student’s needs. While I work from a solid, proven framework, every lesson is tailored—whether you’re aiming for performance excellence or personal musical growth, the approach adapts to you.
A core part of my teaching is helping students find the right balance between technique and musicality, because both matter. Technique isn’t just finger movement—it’s about how we use arm and body weight, how we shape motion, and how we physically create the sounds we want in different musical situations. At the same time, we focus on musicality: the emotion, story, and character behind the notes. I guide students in applying the right techniques to bring out the music’s atmosphere and expressive detail.
To support all of this, I place strong emphasis on how to practise efficiently. Learning how to break things down, set goals, and use your practice time wisely makes a huge difference—and it’s a skill I help every student build.
Ultimately, the aim is to grow not just as a pianist, but as a well-rounded musician. I integrate music theory, listening, and creative thinking into lessons. Whether you’re pursuing a professional path or simply seeking to deepen your connection with music, my goal is to help you build lasting confidence, independence, and joy in your playing—skills that will serve you beyond the piano bench.
My specialty
I specialise in working with advanced piano students. Whether you’re polishing a recital programme, working on high-level repertoire, or preparing for performance diplomas, competitions, conservatoire auditions, I offer experienced guidance tailored to your goals.
Many of my students have gone on to win major competitions and gain places at top music institutions, including the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Royal College of Music London, Mannes School of Music, and Boston University—often with merit-based scholarships or award packages.
For students curious about composition, I also offer support in developing original musical ideas. Even those new to composing often pick up notation software quickly, and we’re able to explore melody, rhythm, and harmony in a way that’s creative and accessible. I aim to make composition both fun and structured—helping students bring their musical imagination to life, whether just starting out or expanding your portfolios.
sytles & genres
I teach a wide range of styles—from Baroque to Contemporary classical music, as well as written jazz and piano pop. Whether you (or your child) are working on Bach or Beethoven, exploring composers like Kapustin, Hiromi Uehara, or Keith Jarrett (through transcriptions), or simply want to play your favourite Taylor Swift song or a Japanese anime soundtrack, I’m happy to support your interests.
